Storm 31 Update

Monday, 20 March 2023

UPDATE - Monday, March 20th at 2:30pm

Powder Mountain will remain closed today and tonight do to on going lightning. Normal operations should be expected for Tuesday, March 21st. 

Forecasted Storm Synopsis:

*All operational decisions can change by the hour, pending on Mother Nature. The following forecasts of weather, terrain opening and closures, road impacts will be updated as the storm evolves.*

We have received an 4 inches of snow overnight, Sunday, March 20th. We are expecting to receive another 30 inches of snow by Saturday, March 25th. During this elongated storms, high winds and lightning should be expected. Temperatures will remain in the high 20's, low 30's during the bulk of the storm and will drop to mid teens by Saturday. 

Snow, Weather, and Road Report

HWY 158:

Starting today, Monday, March 20th, the traction law is in effect. Passenger vehicles are required to have 4-wheel drive or all-wheel drive with snow tiresand/or chains. Download theUDOT appfor up-to-date info about HWY 158 and surrounding state roads and highways. 

Lifts and Terrain:

Due to close proximity of lightning in the ongoing storm, Powder Mountain has suspending operations for today, March 20th. If you were planning on riding tonight please contact us via phone to change your date.

Current Lift and Terrain Status

Monday (03/20/23): 

  • All Lifts & Terrain are CLOSED due to lightning in area. Night operations will be remain CLOSED.

UTA and Parking:

Due to high snowfall rates, parking lots will fill in. All guests should have higher clearance vehicles. Guests are highly encouraged to ride the UTA Ski Bus 674.

Transportation Information

Extended Forecast:

Monday night through Tuesday day looks to have the least amount of accumulations through the week. With more consistent precip returning Tuesday night into Friday afternoon. Check out Open Snow  for the extended forecast.
